The 56th session of United Nations Commission On International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) which will be held in Vienna between 3-21 July opened today. İTOTAM Secretary General Atty. Senem Bahçekapılı Vincenzi is attending the meeting as a member of Turkish delegation.

This year, Baku State University (Azerbaijan) launched the first international Summer School on Arbitration. As an educator, Istanbul Chamber of Commerce Arbitration and Mediation Center (ITOTAM) Arbitration Court Member Prof. Dr. Ali Yeşilırmak shared his theoretical and practical knowledge on international arbitration with the participants.

Prof. Dr. Ebru Şensöz Malkoç have participated as the Turkish delegation to the 44th meeting of the United Nations International Trade Law Commission (UNCITRAL) Working Group III on the "Reform of the Conflicts Between the Investor and the State of the Investment" held in Vienna on 23-27 January 2023. The Working Group continued its reform work on the investor-State arbitration (ISDS). In this context, "Draft Code of Conduct" and “Appellate Mechanism” matters were discussed.

ITOTAM Secretary General Att. Senem Bahçekapılı Vincenzi attended the 76th meeting of the United Nations International Trade Law Commission (UNCITRAL) tasked with "Arbitration and Conciliation / Dispute Settlement) Working Group II, which was held in Vienna on 10-14 October 2022, as the Turkish delegation. The Working Group continued its work on legal issues related to the digital economy - resolution of disputes in the digital economy.

ITOTAM Secretary General Att. Senem Bahçekapılı Vincenzi and Att. M. Buğrahan Helvacı have participated as the Turkish delegation to the 43rd meeting of the United Nations International Trade Law Commission (UNCITRAL) Working Group III on the "Reform of the Conflicts Between the Investor and the State of the Investment" held in Veinna on 5-16 September 2022. The Working Group continued its reform work on the investor-State arbitration (ISDS). In this context, "Draft Code of Conduct" was discussed.

ITOTAM Secretary General Atty. Senem Bahçekapılı Vincenzi attended the General Assembly meeting of IFCAI, the International Federation of Commercial Arbitration Institutions, of which ITOTAM is a member, held in Rome on 8 June.

ITOTAM Secretary General Att. Senem Bahçekapılı Vincenzi and Att. M. Buğrahan Helvacı attended the 75th meeting of the United Nations International Trade Law Commission (UNCITRAL) tasked with "Arbitration and Conciliation / Dispute Settlement) Working Group II, which was held in New York on 31 March – 1 April 2022, as the Turkish delegation. The Working Group continued its work on legal issues related to the digital economy - resolution of disputes in the digital economy.

ITOTAM Secretary General Att. Senem Bahçekapılı Vincenzi and Att. M. Buğrahan Helvacı have participated as the Turkish delegation to the 42nd meeting of the United Nations International Trade Law Commission (UNCITRAL) Working Group III on the "Reform of the Conflicts Between the Investor and the State of the Investment" held in New York on 14-18 February 2022. The Working Group continued its reform work on the investor-State arbitration (ISDS). In this context, "Draft Code of Conduct" and “Standing Multilateral Mechanism in ISDS Regime” matters were discussed.

Prof. Dr. Nuray EKŞİ, ILSA Özyeğin Law Club and Özyeğin University Faculty of Law held a conference titled " All Aspects of Arbitration Certification Program " on 11-12 December 2021. ITOTAM Secretary General Atty. Senem Bahçekapılı Vincenzi made a presentation on Arbitration in ITOTAM Practice.

ITOTAM Secretary General Att. Senem Bahçekapılı Vincenzi and Att. M. Buğrahan Helvacı have participated as the Turkish delegation to the 41th meeting of the United Nations International Trade Law Commission (UNCITRAL) Working Group III on the "Reform of the Conflicts Between the Investor and the State of the Investment" held in Vienna on 15-19 November 2021. The Working Group continued its reform work on the investor-State arbitration (ISDS). In this context, "Draft Code of Conduct" was discussed.

Buğrahan Helvacı attended the 74rd meeting of the United Nations International Trade Law Commission (UNCITRAL) tasked with "Arbitration and Conciliation / Dispute Settlement) Working Group II, which was held in Vienna on 27 September - 1 October 2021, as the Turkish delegation. The Working Group continued its work on the preparation the Draft Explanatory Note for the UNCITRAL Expedited Arbitration Rules.

ITOTAM’s case manager Attorney Av. M. Buğrahan Helvacı attended to Council of Europe - Project on Promoting Alternative Dispute Resolution In Turkey meeting whose main object is to improve effectiveness of the justice system and Access to justice by providing a faster dispute resolution for citizens, businesses, legal persons and other organisations and institutions. At the meeting, suggestions were made to improve the practice of mediation and arbitration in Turkey.

Buğrahan Helvacı attended the 73rd meeting of the United Nations International Trade Law Commission (UNCITRAL) tasked with "Arbitration and Conciliation / Dispute Resolution) Working Group III, which was held in New York on 22-26 March 2021, as the Turkish delegation. The Working Group continued its work on the preparation of the Draft Rules for the UNCITRAL Expedited Arbitration.

ITOTAM Secretary General Att. Senem Bahçekapılı Vincenzi and Att. M. Buğrahan Helvacı have participated as the Turkish delegation to the 40th meeting of the United Nations International Trade Law Commission (UNCITRAL) Working Group III on the "Reform of the Conflicts Between the Investor and the State of the Investment" held in Vienna on 8-12 February 2021. The Working Group continued its reform work on the investor-State arbitration (ISDS). In this context, "appeal mechanism and implementation issues" and "selection and appointment of ISDS court members" were discussed.

Mrs. Senem Bahçekapılı Vincenzi, Secretary General and Mrs. Ebru Şensöz Malkoç, Arbitration Court Member of ITOTAM attended to the IFCAI General Assembly which took place in Helsinki on 24 May 2019. IFCAI Biennial Conference in an international arbitration conference arranged biennially by the International Federation of Commercial Arbitration Institutions (IFCAI).
